What We Heard

I think the more positive you are going into the race, the better outcome you’ll have. I would try to make the best of a bad situation. So for example if I got lost, I would just tell myself it was cool - I got to see a different trail I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.  Or if I was out of water, at least my pack was light.
~ Summer Revenge 2018, Rae-anne Gill, 16 years old, 100 mile finisher

I got lost four times, so did many others and they were not happy about it either.
It is for the safety of the participants that the route should be better marked.

~ Summer Revenge 2018, 50km finisher.
This was my first trail race and also my first 50K. The race exceeded my expectations.  The course was sufficiently marked, I had no issues with getting overly lost and liked that the flagging was a bit sparse in areas.
Made it a bit more of an adventure.

~ Summer Revenge 2018, 50km finisher
All races have a culture.  The course is the course...there is always pain, the desire to stop, the choosing not to...there will be those who RISE and those who do not.  Those who think Edmonton is flat deserve what comes to them.
~ Summer Revenge 2017 and 2018, Keith Heslinga, 100 mile podium finisher
...be FLEXIBLE and realize that not every race is going to cater to [your] strengths.  If the course hadn't been designed to exploit weaknesses, I might never have discovered them.
~ Winter Revenge 2017 and 2018, 50 km finisher

The course was creative, clever, challenging,
wonderful, terrible, and beautiful.
Next year, I will be ready.

~ Summer Revenge 2018, 100 mile racer
We had 3.5 hours on some of the toughest trails Edmonton has to offer...and when I say “trails” I mean sometimes you can’t see a scuff
in the ground and sometimes you can,
and most of that 21km was not runnable.

~ Summer Revenge 2018, pacer
An awesome race, an awesome course. But, a difficult one. I had to remind myself numerous times, to be comfortable with feeling uncomfortable, really really uncomfortable! - but it’s an ADVENTURE, a CHALLENGE, A really difficult challenge...
...and one worth doing!

~ Summer Revenge, Helen Rae, 72 years young,
2016 & 2018 finisher, 2017 racer
There is no certainty.  There is only adventure.  ~ Roberto Assagioli
